AIESEC in USJ welcomes over 100 volunteers this term

AIESEC is the world’s largest youth-led, non-profit organization that aims to develop young people into responsible and globally aware leaders via cross-cultural exchanges; volunteering and professional internships.
AIESEC in University of Sri Jayewardenapura is one the most active local committees in Sri Lanka and has marked a significant milestone this term by welcoming more than 100 volunteers and 7 interns to the country.
The volunteers are from diverse countries across Asia, Europe and the Middle East. They are involved in initiatives like conducting workshops, supporting environmental clean-up, youth empowerment and other social development projects. The interns on the other hand are contributing their knowledge and skills to local companies and organizations.
Welcoming over 100 volunteers is not just a number, it involves the dedication of AIESECer’s who worked tirelessly planning, interviewing, coordinating with partner companies, handling airport pickups and much more to make this possible.
For many exchange participants this is their first exposure to Sri Lanka and local students get to interact with peers from across the world and exchange ideas and culture which builds intercultural understanding.
AIESEC in USJ aims to work towards expanding its exchange portfolio, encourage more international collaboration, and continue working towards achieving more targets. With a record breaking number of international volunteers and interns the committee stands as a major force behind shaping the next generation of responsible leaders.
