Avurudu with CC 2025 – A Colorful Fusion of Tradition, Joy, and AIESEC Spirit

On May 17th, 2025, the Wellawatta Cooray Grounds lit up with color, culture, and contagious energy as AIESEC in the University of Colombo hosted Avurudu with CC 2025 ,a heartfelt celebration of the Sinhala and Tamil New Year that brought together current AIESECers, alumni, and valued partners for an unforgettable day of tradition, laughter, and connection.

Rooted in Sri Lankan heritage and driven by the dynamic energy of youth leadership, the event reflected the true spirit of AIESEC: unity, celebration, and purpose. From age-old customs to uniquely fun contests, the entire celebration was a vibrant blend of tradition and creativity. The games segment was a major highlight, packed with excitement and joy from the suspense filled Kanamutti challenge to the tricky Keeping Eye , each game tested both focus and laughter. Contestants brought their best dramatic flair to the crowd-favorite Best Laugh and Best Cry competitions, and the prestigious Avurudu Kumara and Kumari titles were awarded to two outstanding individuals who radiated tradition, leadership, and AIESEC charm.

The traditional food corner brought an authentic festive touch, with warm plates of kiribath, kokis, athirasa, kawum, and more delighting everyone present. The aroma and taste of home-cooked Avurudu treats brought people together, as alumni and new members shared stories, smiles, and moments of pure connection.
