JW Networks and FMSSL Join Forces to Promote Diversity and Inclusivity in Motorsport
Nevindee Amarasinghe

JW Networks, in collaboration with the Federation of Motorcycle Sport Sri Lanka (FMSSL), is proud to announce the successful launch of a groundbreaking project aimed at promoting diversity, equality, and inclusivity in motorsport. Following the success of the “Speed on Wheels” event in January, which catered to both girls and boys, this new project focuses specifically on encouraging girls to participate in the exhilarating world of motorsport.
The project introduces the concept of using electric scooters that can serve both as daily transportation and as high-performance racing vehicles. Spearheaded by FMSSL President Shane Gunawardana, this innovative approach aims to make motorsport more accessible and appealing to a wider audience.
“We are thrilled to partner with FMSSL on this visionary project,” said Jorgina Wijayawardana , CEO of JW Networks. “By offering electric scooters that can easily transition from daily use to racing mode, we are breaking down barriers and inviting more individuals, especially girls, to experience the thrill of motorsport.”
Future plans for the project include organizing more races, potentially outside the city, to raise awareness and attract greater community involvement. The ultimate goal is to inspire at least 10 out of every 20 participants to consider a career in the motorsport industry.
The collaboration between JW Networks and FMSSL exemplifies a commitment to fostering a more inclusive and diverse motorsport community. By providing innovative solutions and promoting gender equality, this project is paving the way for a brighter and more inclusive future in motorsport.
