Speech Master 2025: Preliminary Rounds Wrapped Up in Style

In a celebration of expression, courage and youthful brilliance – the echoes of powerful voices and thought-provoking speeches marked the successful conclusion of the preliminary round of Speech Master 2025.

Speech Master, Sri Lanka’s biggest all island public speaking competition organized for the 8th time by the Gavel Club of University of Sri Jayewardenepura once again opened its arms for aspiring speakers from both school and university level. With the aim of fostering and empowering the emerging voices of the island, Speech Master 2025 has lived up to its reputation of nurturing eloquence, leadership and confidence among young speakers.

Over the course of a month, with 1200+ astounding registrations, Speech Master travelled across the country, igniting stages and hearts in Jaffna, Kandy, Matara, and Colombo. Each city bore witness to inspiring moments buzzed with anticipation, passion and fueled with purpose. The journey began in the southern city of Matara on April 19th followed by the preliminary rounds in Jaffna on April 26th, Kandy on May 10th, and finally to the heats of Colombo on May 10th and 11th, marked by a high level of participation.

Each venue witnessed passionate performances, and diverse perspectives. Contestants tackled a wide array of topics in their quest to stand out and secure a place among the top performers. The competition was tight, with each speech carefully evaluated by an esteemed panel of judges comprising of esteemed Toastmasters and communication professionals. For many speakers this was more than a competition_ it was a platform and space for self-expression, growth and development.

With preliminary rounds now complete, the spotlight had turned to the semifinals. Selected contestants competed for a coveted place in the grand finale, set to take place on 1st of June, where the best of the best will battle it out for the ultimate title at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura.

As Speech Master 2025 continues to grow, its legacy is defined by the countless young individuals it has empowered to speak with confidence, clarity, and purpose. With each passing year, it stands as a testament to the power of expression, reaffirming its commitment to shaping a generation ready to lead with their voices.
