Nevindee Amarasinghe

Colombo recently witnessed a refined celebration of Italian coffee culture with the successful conclusion of La Dolce Tazza – The Art of Italian Coffee, an exclusive masterclass presented through a prestigious collaboration between the Embassy of Italy in Sri Lanka and Colombo Coffee Company.
The event marked a significant milestone in strengthening cultural and commercial ties between Italy and Sri Lanka, while elevating the local coffee landscape through authentic Italian expertise. Designed as an immersive experience, La Dolce Tazza brought together leading hospitality professionals, industry decision-makers, and coffee connoisseurs for an unforgettable journey into the heart of Italian coffee tradition.
Adding exceptional value to the masterclass was the presence of Mr. Simon Celli, renowned Italian coffee expert flown in from Florence, Italy. His session offered deep insights into the philosophy, craftsmanship, and ritual behind Italian coffee, highlighting the delicate balance between heritage, technique, and innovation that defines Italy’s coffee culture.
The masterclass featured world-renowned Italian coffee brands, reinforcing Colombo Coffee Company’s position as Sri Lanka’s largest importer and distributor of premium Italian coffee and coffee machinery. Participants experienced hands-on demonstrations, sensory explorations, and expert-led discussions that emphasized espresso excellence, brewing precision, and the evolving role of coffee in modern hospitality.
La Dolce Tazza was attended by CEOs’, General Managers, F&B Directors, and senior hospitality leaders from Sri Lanka’s leading hotels and restaurants, reflecting the event’s relevance and impact within the industry. Beyond education, the event served as a platform for dialogue, collaboration, and inspiration, uniting professionals around a shared appreciation for quality and authenticity.
Speaking on the success of the event, representatives from Colombo Coffee Company highlighted La Dolce Tazza as more than a masterclass, describing it as a cultural exchange that celebrates Italy’s coffee legacy while empowering Sri Lanka’s hospitality sector with global standards and knowledge.
With its seamless execution, distinguished partnerships, and enthusiastic response from attendees, La Dolce Tazza has firmly positioned itself as a benchmark event in Sri Lanka’s coffee and hospitality calendar, setting the stage for future initiatives that continue to celebrate the art, passion, and excellence of Italian coffee.
