Ceyline Shipping salutes seafarers on International Day of the Seafarer
Nevindee Amarasinghe

Ceyline Shipping, Sri Lanka’s maritime industry leader and a proud member of the Ceyline Group, marked the International Day of the Seafarer with “Ceyline-SeaCare: Saluting the Spirit of Seafarers” on June 22 at its Bolgoda Training Academy. The event reaffirmed the company’s commitment to honouring the vital contribution of seafarers to the nation and the world.
As the flagship initiative of the Ceyline Group – which comprises over 15 maritime & logistic service companies – Ceyline-SeaCare was a heartfelt tribute to Sri Lankan seafarers and their families. The day featured a series of engaging activities focusing on mindfulness, financial well-being, and leadership development.
Ceyline also launched exclusive loyalty benefits to uplift seafarers and their families. Adding further significance, students from leading schools across Sri Lanka participated, helping raise awareness of seafaring as a high-reward, globally respected profession that not only enhances quality of life but also contributes vital foreign exchange to the national economy.
The International Day of the Seafarer was established by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) in 2010 to recognize the indispensable role of seafarers in global trade. Nearly 90 percent of the world’s goods are transported by sea, making seafarers the unseen lifeline of the global economy. The day serves as a reminder of the sacrifices and challenges faced by those at sea and calls on governments, ship owners, and society to ensure their fair treatment and welfare.
With over 40 years of expertise, Ceyline Shipping is Sri Lanka’s premier ship crew recruitment and management company, supplying competent and qualified seafarers to some of the world’s largest shipping lines. Ceyline is Sri Lanka’s most diversified maritime and logistics group, offering services across maritime, logistics, education, healthcare and leisure sectors. The group’s contributions have consistently elevated the standards of Sri Lanka’s marine industry on the global stage.
On this International Day of the Seafarer, Ceyline Group extends its heartfelt gratitude and best wishes to all seafarers around the world. Your dedication, resilience, and hard work keep global trade moving and connect the world’s communities. We honor your commitment and sacrifices, and we thank you for your invaluable contribution to the maritime industry.
