She Couldn’t Find the Perfect Earring So She Built a Brand That Shines
Nevindee Amarasinghe

When Pinsari couldn’t find the perfect earrings to match her pink dress at the 2022 Dancesport Championship, she didn’t compromise.. she created.
With her own hands, she threaded a simple hoop, sourcing materials from the vibrant local market. The result? A pair that didn’t just catch the light, but turned heads.
What started as a moment of necessity soon evolved into something bigger, as she began sourcing unique pieces and materials from Japan, China, and beyond.
A fellow competitor noticed them mid-championship and asked where they were from. When Pinsari said she made them herself, the response was immediate: make me a pair too. It was her colleague Chamodi who then planted the seed why not turn this into something? and from that single suggestion, Clarico was born.
The name, drawn from the Spanish word meaning shine, was no accident. Pinsari, a trained Kandyan and Latin American dancer with a BA (Hons) in Performing Arts from the University of Kelaniya and a Visharadha in Bharatha Natyam and diploma in Kathak one of Sri Lanka’s most prestigious dance qualifications understands the relationship between movement and adornment better than most. She has also built a life where art and identity are inseparable.
With mentorship from Miss Kessie Lara, Co-Founder of Dance City by Bharatha & Kessie, Pinsari refined her vision exploring Pinterest, studying trends, and filling a gap she genuinely noticed: platforms like Dancewear.lk existed for costumes, but no one was catering to jewellery for dancers. She stepped in.
Clarico has since expanded beyond earrings to headpieces, hairbands, and curated jewellery collections with future plans to incorporate Sri Lankan cultural elements like the traditional Nari Latha motif. The brand is active across Instagram and TikTok, with her dancing and life partner Chamath Pankaja supporting everything from design to digital promotion.
Pinsari also runs her own dance academy, Sarangi Lalitha Kalayathana, nurturing the next generation of performers.
Clarico isn’t just jewellery. It’s what happens when a dancer with discipline, creativity, and a little bit of Pettah magic decides to shine on her own terms.
