Sri Lanka’s top Latin dance duo, Ryan Wijesundara and Sharanya Dias, will proudly represent the nation at the prestigious ‘Summer Rhythms’ International DanceSport Championships in Moscow, Russia, this week. As 5-time National Latin Champions and seasoned international competitors, Ryan and Sharanya are the only dancers selected from Sri Lanka and the South Asian region for this world-class event.

Organized by the All Russian Federation of DanceSport, Breaking and Acrobatic Rock’n’Roll (FDSARR) as part of the World Cup series, the championship brings together elite dancers from across the globe. Ryan and Sharanya have been generously sponsored by the organizers, who are covering their flights, logistics, meals, and accommodation.
This milestone opportunity was made possible through a special invitation extended by Aleena Tan, a respected figure in the global dance community. The dancers also express deep gratitude to El Latino Dance Academy by Kevin Nugara and to mentors Kevin Nugara and Jacqueline Nugara for their unwavering support and mentorship.
“This is more than a competition. It’s about representing Sri Lanka with pride, grace, and passion on one of the world’s grandest stages,” said Ryan and Sharanya. “We are deeply honored and grateful beyond words.”
The duo will compete in the Latin Amateur and Rising Star divisions, with high hopes of bringing Sri Lanka into the spotlight of the international DanceSport scene.
